Liposuction

Liposuction is a very common method to shape the body. As stated in the definition, it should not be thought as a weight loss method but should be considered as a body shaping method.

It is the removal of the accumulated fat in certain areas of the body with the help of thin cannulas (metal pipes). The aim of this procedure is to remove the excessively accumulated fat from the body and to give the body a well proportioned shape.

It can be applied to belly, hip, legs, knees, waist, back, arms, under the chin and to ankles. The fat removed through liposuction can be used for rejuvenational purposes on the facial area, after it is processed.  This extra operation helps the patient have more attractive lips.

During the process, fat cells are removed by making millimetric cuts and using cannulas.  Since the cuts are milimetric, this operation leaves no scars. The operations aims to remove the fat cells from the body. After the adolesence, fat cell amount in our body does not change. Fat cells grow as the person grows old and does not have a proper diet or exercise routine. We can explain this as :If a person has one million fat cells in the belly area, it is impossible for that person to gain weight on this area after removing the half of the fat cells.

Operation is performed through local or general anesthesia depending on the patient’s request. By re-implanting the fat removed from the body to the different areas of the body, Lipoplasty, liposhaping and Liposculpture surgeries can also be performed.

Liposuction surgery can be performed in 4 different methods  ; Ultrasonic, Laser, dry method and Wet method. In Ultrasonic and Laser methods, fat cells are destroyed by the combination of sound and heat and are sucked out through cannulas. Which of these methods are superior to one another is uncertain. Expert plastic surgeons prefer Tumescent method. Tumescent liposuction is a technique that provides local anesthesia to large volumes of subcutaneous fat and thus permits by local anesthesia through cannulas.

Patients are reccomended to wear a corset for 3-4 weeks after the surgery to help prevent the sagging of the skin. LPG , exercising and Lenf drenage massage is recommended to remove the oedema from the body.

This is a good option for certain stages of gynecomastia treatment (male breasts).
